B.E. / B.Tech — First Year (Semester 1)

4-year Bachelor of Engineering programme offered in five disciplines. Admissions to the first year are conducted by J&K Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (JKBOPEE) based on the Common Entrance Test (CET) merit list. GCET Jammu is a participating institution.

Eligibility Criteria — B.Tech (Fresh)
Qualification
Passed 10+2 (Class XII) with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics from JKBOSE or any equivalent recognised Board.
Min. Marks
50% aggregate in PCM — Open Merit & OBC
40% aggregate in PCM — SC / ST candidates
Entrance Test
Must have appeared in the JKBOPEE Common Entrance Test (CET) for the current academic session. Selection is strictly merit-based on CET rank. Register at JKBOPEE
Reservations
As per J&K UT Govt. norms — SC, ST, OBC, EWS, RBA, Ex-Servicemen (Wards), PwD, Sports, NCC, etc. Category certificates must be issued by competent authority of J&K UT.

B.Tech Lateral Entry — 2nd Year (Semester 3)

Direct admission to the 2nd year of the 4-year B.Tech programme under the Lateral Entry Scheme. Seats are supernumerary (10% over and above sanctioned intake). Admissions are conducted directly by GCET Jammu — JKBOPEE is not involved. If a large number of applications are received, the college may conduct its own written/online entrance test.

Eligibility Criteria — B.Tech Lateral Entry
Domicile
Bona fide J&K UT Domicile Certificate is mandatory. Candidates from outside J&K UT are not eligible. Non-J&K candidates not eligible
Qualification (A)
Passed 3-year Diploma in Engineering in the relevant branch from a recognised Polytechnic / Board.
Minimum 45% marks in the qualifying Diploma. Preferred for admission into the matching B.Tech branch (e.g. Diploma in ME → B.Tech ME 2nd Year).
Qualification (B)
Passed B.Sc. (Non-Medical) with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics from a recognised University.
Minimum 45% marks in the qualifying B.Sc. B.Sc. candidates are typically admitted to CSE or EE branch.
Selection
Merit of qualifying exam (Diploma / B.Sc. %). If applications are high, GCET may conduct a written or online entrance test; final selection is on test merit.
Seats
Supernumerary — 10% above sanctioned intake per branch. These do not reduce regular B.Tech seats.

M.Tech — Master of Technology (2-Year Postgraduate)

2-year postgraduate engineering programme. Admission is primarily based on a valid GATE score. In the absence of sufficient GATE-qualified candidates, the University of Jammu may conduct a separate entrance test; selection is strictly merit-based. Admissions are managed at the college level in coordination with University of Jammu.

Qualification
B.E. / B.Tech in a relevant engineering discipline from a recognised university / institute. The qualifying degree branch must correspond to the chosen M.Tech specialisation.

50% marks (or equivalent CGPA) in qualifying B.Tech — General / OBC
45% marks — SC / ST candidates
Entrance / Selection
Priority to candidates with a valid GATE score in the relevant paper.
